This study was intended to find out the most effective prereading method in improving phonological awareness of preschool children. These methods were synthetic, analytic, and synthetic-analytic method. Thirty-eight kindergarten children, with age-range from 4 to 5 were involved in this study. They were selected based on the selection test that was directed to find their equal language ability before training. The assignment of the children to each experimental group was done randomly. The groups were synthetic-method group (13 children)
