Description
Summary:Abstract This study aimed to know effect of feeding frequency on the growth, survival rate and feed conversion of humpback grouper, Cromileptes altivelis fingerling. The experiment was carried out in floating net cages located in Pegametan bay, the Gondol Research Institute for Mariculture. Humpback grouper fingerlings with the average body weight of 4.300±10 g and total length of 6.50±24 cm reared in 1x1 x1.5 m cages at stocking density of 150 fish/cage. The fishes were fed commercial pellet with feeding frequency of 1, 2, 3 and 4 times daily. The results showed that growth rate, feed conversion and survival rate of grouper among feeding frequency of 2, 3, and 4 were no significant different (P>0.05), but a significant different (P< 0.05) was showed between these treatments and one per day of feeding frequency. Highest growth rate and an optimum feed convertion ratio were obtained when the fingerlings fed three times daily. These results indicated that the optimum feeding frequency was three times per day.
