Summary: | Potential water resources in Indonesia are still not optimally utilized,
especially for the generation of electrical energy. Scale hydropower potential of
micro hydropower in Indonesia spread almost reached 500 MW, while it only
reached 4.5% utilization of the existing potential. Blueprint National Energy
Management 2005-2025 indicated quantities of energy resources mini/micro
hydropower equivalent to 0,45 GW installed capacity of 0,206 GW.
One of the efforts of water resource utilization for electric power generation is
by applying a cross flow turbine through micro hydro Power Drum Models
(PTMMD). PTMMD a power plant with low investment costs and easy operation, so
that can be owned by rural communities either individually or in groups. Also
required a small discharge (10.4 l / s) with the head at least 2 to 3 m can produce 400
watts power.
Experiments for cross flow turbine through PTMMD through variation of the
runner of blades 12, 16, 20, 24 with a runner diameter of 80 mm and 130 mm length
and a different head of 2,1m 2.3 m and 2.5 m.
Results for cross flow turbine runner experiment that the efficiency 87,8% for
number of runner 20 blades with runner diameter 80 mm and length of runner 130
mm.
