Summary:Competitive advantage is at the heart of firm�s performance in competitive markets. After severals decades of vigorous expansion and prosperity, however, many firms lost sight of competitive advantage int their scrambles for growth. Today the importance of competitive advantage could hardly be greater. Globalization era is a condition which have to face and develop, because globalization era is competitive process that company become dependent and connected to globalization throught strategic aliance and International network that give bounded effect and International trade. PT BNI has to face competitive market in the globalization era has to be face with strategy formulation, which support the process. Strategy formulation of PT BNI base on problem condition in the company and outside factor which give effect on the company. Strategy formulation used SWOT analysis. The SWOT analysis is use to know the strenght, weaknesses, threat and opportunity, and competitive advantage analysis. By the internal and external company analysis, we can determine the competitive strategy from PT BNI. Base on SWOT analysis has showun that PT BNI has good strategy. This opportunity must be respond with intensively growth come through the market developmen strategy and also to manager the programs selectively with combining the variables such as product and promotion.
