description | This research carried out cyclic load tests on the type-T precast exterior
beam-column joint. The purpose of the experimental study was required to prove
whether the precast interior beam-column joint using concrete hollow block
system fulfills requirements of earthquake resistance structure.
Specimens used in this research consisted of one precast specimen (JP)
and one cast in place specimen (JM), with the same flexural reinforcement, which
was 2D13 for upper and lower reinforcement and P6-150 links. The column was
reinforced axially using 8D13 and laterally using of P8-150. The dimension of the
precast beam specimen was 140/290 using concrete hollow block and 290/290 the
column specimen was of hollow block. The specimens were cyclically loaded
based on ACI T1.1-01 and the pushover analysis of the prototype building was
also carried out.
The maximum lateral loading and lateral deflection of the beam-column
joint of the precast specimen was 19.2 kN in 59.52 mm respectively. For the cast
in place specimen, the maximum lateral loading and lateral deflection was 26.4
kN at 58.50 mm respectively.The failure pattern was a combination between
flexural and shears. Based on the limition as required by ATC 40 and FEMA 356,
the pushover analysis results using the SAP 2000 indicated that both models (X
and Y directions) were categorized in immediate occupancy level. |
