Summary: | Employee performance is a major factor for the organization in achieving
organizational objectives. There are several factors that affect the performance
improvement among employees is through the leadership style and the quality of service.
The style of leadership and service quality is expected to increase productivity,
professionalism, skills and attitudes to be able to carry out duties in a professional office
with employees based on personality and ethics in accordance with the needs of agencies
in carrying out the tasks given to him. From the background, then the problem is
formulated as follows: How Responsible Leadership Style Library in supporting the
development of quality library services Faculty of Economics and Business Gadjah Mada
Univercity and the Faculty of Medicine Gadjah Mada Univercity.
The theory used in this study was the theories of Human Resource Management
related to leadership, leadership style, and quality of library service. The method used in
this study is the rational-empirical approach, this kind of research is qualitative and
descriptive nature of this study is analytical. Methods of data collection is done by
observation, interview and documentation study. While the number of informants in this
study as many as 11 people from the Faculty of Economics and Business and 12 people
from the Faculty of Medicine Gadjah Mada Univercity.
The study found that leadership style is applied at the Faculty of Economics and
Business UGM likely to lead to a consultative leadership style, where it may reinforce
the behavior of compliance with rules and procedures, can be a means to facilitate open
discussion by encouraging the exchange of creative ideas and analytical perspective and
critically, so as to encourage a culture of mutual respect between employees and
management. While leadership styles are applied at the Faculty of Medicine tends to lead
to a participative leadership style. Responsible for the library where the library can help
foster creativity and employees to create work that challenges and achieve high levels of
performance
In emergency situations and responsible library the Faculty of Economics and
Business and the Faculty of Medicine also apply Delegatif leadership style (various
activities to be conducted submitted to subordinates) and directive leadership style
(activities to be performed was decided by the leadership alone).
