Author v. character in early modern dramatic authorship: the example of Thomas Kyd and The Spanish Tragedy
This article discusses the issue of the authorship of Thomas Kyd's play 'The Spanish Tragedy' and argues that for contemporaries the play was identified as the product of its main protagonist, Hieronimo, rather than its unknown author.
